A Scalable QoS-based inter-domain routing scheme in a high speed wide area network

چکیده
In this paper we propose a scalable QoS-based inter-domain routing scheme for distributed multimedia applications in a high speed wide area network. The problem of QoS-based routing is formulated as a multicriteria shortest path problem, known as NP-complete 20,29]. Our scheme consists of two phases. In Phase 1, we present a way of mapping the network into a graph that contains a part of the network topology which is neglected completely or partially by existing routing schemes, thus maintaining more accurate topology information. In Phase 2, we develop a heuristic call-by-call algorithm, based on each edge's minimum normalized slackness to the QoS requested, for selecting a feasible path eeciently in depth rst search(DFS)-like manner on the graph and tailoring to each application's QoS requirements. Note that our routing scheme is one of a few QoS-based hierarchical routing schemes that address explicitly the issue of selecting a path with multiple metrics.

Hybrid Inter-Domain QoS Routing based on Look-Ahead Information
Abstract: Enabling the inter-domain routing with end-to-end Quality of Service (QoS) guarantees, remains a challenge for the next generation Internet. Most of the existing research in QoS routing has been done considering a single domain. However, extending the QoS routing to the inter-domain level faces two major challenges: the scalability and the domain autonomy. In this paper, we propose a ...
متن کاملAn adaptive inter-domain PCE framework to improve resource utilization and reduce inter-domain signaling
Upcoming broadband commercial and scientific applications are now demanding high bandwidth pipes across multiple domains with guaranteed Quality of Service (QoS). Recent research initiatives such as the Path Computation Element (PCE) framework are focusing on the development of scalable multidomain QoS provisioning frameworks, especially within the emerging carrier grade transport technologies ...
متن کاملA scalable virtual circuit routing scheme for ATM networks
High-speed networks, such as ATM networks, are expected to support diverse quality-of-service (QoS) requirements, including real-time QoS. Real-time QoS is required by many applications such as voice and video. To support such service, routing protocols based on the Virtual Circuit (VC) model have been proposed. However, these protocols do not scale well to large networks in terms of storage an...
متن کاملInter-domain QoS routing on Diffserv networks: a region-based approach
Quality of Service (QoS) routing is inherently a difficult problem. Inter-domain QoS routing is even harder, because it involves entities residing in distinct administrative domains. There are two problems that need to be solved in inter-domain QoS routing: topology distribution in a scalable fashion and finding paths that satisfy QoS constraints and provide connectivity. In this paper we prese...
متن کاملInter-Domain QoS Routing Algorithms
Quality-of-Service routing satisfies performance requirements of applications and maximizes utilization of network resources by selecting paths based on the resource needs of application sessions and link load. QoS routing can significantly increase the number of reserved bandwidth sessions that a network can carry, while meeting application QoS requirements. Most research on QoS routing to dat...
